Nannacay works together with 30 communities, mostly led by women artisans, in 15 cities across 10 states in Brazil. The brand estimates that more than 600 human lives are impacted by this relationship. Nãnãkay is a Quechua word meaning sisterhood. The Lilian dress is made by a group of 20 artisans from the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Most of them are over 45 and have difficulty finding work in the industry because of their age. The basket of the Steffy bag is handmade by a single mother who supports her disable child, and the handle is made by artisans living in remote communities around Rio de Janeiro.
